SIT Certificate in Tourism (Guiding) - Level 3
This programme aims to produce students who demonstrate competence in skills, knowledge and work habits that are both directly relevant to working or further training in the tourism sector, and to standards recognised by the industry sector as appropriate. Students will participate in several trips (over night and longer) to gain first hand experience of guiding.

TG101 Communication and Selling Skills
A minimum of 15 credits are required from the following:

18232 Read and write in English for the tourism and travel industry

TG102 Essential Skills for working in a Service Industry
A minimum of 15 credits are required from the following:
17786 Explain the importance of respecting Máori customs and practices in a tourism Máori context
18237 Perform numeric calculations for the tourism and travel industry
20489 Describe legal responsibilities of employees in the tourism and travel industry
20490 Outline and apply contract legislation relating to the tourism and travel industry
TG103 Information Technology Skills and First Aid
A minimum of 15 credits are required from the following:
5940 Produce a presentation using a desktop presentation computer application
6400 Manage first aid in emergency situations
6401 Provide first aid
6402 Provide Resuscitation level 2
18221 Complete tourism and travel administration tasks and use office equipment
18280 Demonstrate knowledge of and use email and internet in the tourism and travel industry
TG104 Knowledge of New Zealand Tourism
A minimum of 30 credits are required from the following:
5562 Present the characteristics of New Zealand as a visitor destination
9807 Demonstrate knowledge of the significance of tourism industry to New Zealand
18228 Provide information about specified regions in New Zealand as tourist destinations
18238 Demonstrate knowledge of the tourism industry in New Zealand
TG105 Guiding Organisation and Knowledge - Block 1
