National Diploma in Aviation (Risk Management)

The National Diploma in Aviation (Risk Management) [Ref: 1638] is designed to introduce the concepts, principles, processes and practices for the management of risk in an array of applications.

Utilising the concepts and processes defined in the International Standard Organisation ISO31000:2009 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines, this program equips trainees with the
ability to manage risk in any aviation organisation, at any level.

All businesses, operational and organisational activities involve some level of risk. Through a systematic application of structured risk management processes, key areas of growth and change can be effectively managed, enabling organisations to achieve their objectives.

This National Diploma enables trainees to develop risk management plans and establish frameworks for managing risk at both the enterprise (business) and operational level.

The Diploma is aimed at those who are looking to develop advanced skills in risk management planning, are responsible for establishing risk management practices within their organisation or for teams or organisations wishing to develop an internal culture of risk-based decision making.

Trainees must complete eight core unit standards.

  • Operational Risk Management
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Special Risk Applications

Course Delivery

This course is delivered in two ways:

Client Based Delivery:

This program is designed to be delivered to a team of people within an organisation or industry group who wish to design, develop and implement risk management practices into their everyday business, management and operational planning processes. This vocational based program is ideal for introducing practices and up-skilling a group of planners, managers or leaders collectively. The schedule and location of delivery is determined by the client group and caters for the group’s needs. Selection and customisation of the training materials, examples and workplace based assessment is also included in this mode of delivery.

Distance Learning:

This program will be made available via distance education in the future.

Educational Outcomes

Upon the completion of this Diploma program, the trainee will be able to successfully undertake risk management planning at the business, project and operational level. The trainee will also be able to prepare and facilitate risk management planning within the organisation on key areas of growth and change such as introducing a new aircraft type into service, organisational restructures, opening a new base, initiating a new contract, introducing new technology or managing new or complex projects.
