NMIT's School of Aviation is one of just two providers in New Zealand offering an aircraft maintenance training package. Delivered at RNZAF Base Woodbourne in Blenheim, this programme is 50 percent theory and 50 percent practical, hands-on experience. The school also offers training for aircraft maintenance engineers already working in industry with the Diploma in Advanced Avionics Maintenance.
NMIT is now the country's largest pilot training provider, with 300 pilots training at any one time. Pilot training is delivered in association with flight training providers all around New Zealand.

The NMIT Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering Fundamentals has been developed to meet the needs of the New Zealand aviation industry, to provide a pathway into the Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance industry. It is also a pre-requisite programme for RNZAF technical trade training courses.
